MEDIA EXPERIENCE

Podcast & Newsletter Coordinator, EarBuds Podcast Collective                                                                                        August 2022 – Current

• Create the weekly podcast recommendation newsletter that reaches about 4,000 subscribers using Squarespace and Mailchimp.

• Write the scripts for the podcast-version of our newsletter where we feature voice clips of our weekly curators. Work closely with our host to plan an engaging episode each week.  

• Manage company communication through booking curators and sponsors to bring new audio content to our subscribers.

Podcast Editing Intern, Stitcher                                                                                                                       September 2022 – December 2022

• Worked with a team of six producers to produce the daily show Atlas Obscura and a team of three producers to produce the weekly show The Sporkful.

• Field reported, produced, and hosted an episode of Atlas Obscura titled, “Fluorescent Rocks of Sterling Hill Mine.”

• Used Pro Tools to assemble ads, completed pre-interview research, and pulled selects from transcriptions to help keep up with the publication cycle.

• Edited episodes from outline stage to final draft and provided editorial insight that helped shape the stories that were published.

 

Student Journalist, Columbia Journalism School                                                                                                            August 2021 – May 2022

• Reported and produced two episodes on a podcast called Onomatopoeia, one focused on a trans drag queen navigating their gender expression at their day job.

• Created three narrative-style podcast episodes, one about how a 15-year-old had to evacuate his family during Hurricane Harvey and another about an opera singer who experienced a career-threatening injury.

• Individually filmed and edited multiple short documentaries, with topics ranging from a man who picks up trash in his neighborhood every day at 6 a.m. to inspire others to keep NYC clean, to a profile of an artist who uses their background in commercial prop fabrication to create artwork.

• Directed and produced a longform film with a partner about displaced families living in hotels and the lack of resources they’ve been provided following the January 9th fire in the Bronx.

ARTS EXPERIENCE

Vice Chair of Development, Women in Music, D.C.                                                                                             September 2020 – August 2021

• Identified and booked notable and up-and-coming artists in the D.C. area for events such as panels or performances where we streamed to hundreds of WIM members.

• Led funding for the Washington, D.C. branch of this national non-profit to plan events that increase opportunities for women in the music industry.

Development Intern, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts                                                                  January 2020 – April 2020

• Communicated with donors for the National and International Committees for the Arts and tracked funding through the database Tessitura, which holds information about hundreds of donors and millions of dollars in donations.

• Researched award recipients that would be recognized at our events and planned events that increased cultural representation.

EDUCATION AND POLITICS EXPERIENCE

Substitute Teacher, Stafford County School District                                                                                                 December 2020 – June 2021

• Rotated and adapted to classrooms every one to sixty days to teach elementary through middle school students.

• Spent several months in a sixth-grade class and several months in a second-grade class and worked specifically with students with learning disabilities as they were adjusting to in-person learning after the start of the pandemic.

Legislative Intern, U.S. House of Representatives                                                                                          September 2019 – December 2019

• Assembled research into 10 briefings and reports for Congressional staff on issues such as health care and the environment. Wrote speeches for the Congressman to honor specific members of the Congressional district community. Answered phone calls and entered constituent concerns into the Congressional database.

 

Intern, U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe                                                                                  June 2018 – August 2018

• Researched information about Italian and Portuguese affairs in preparation for Congress members during their Congressional Delegation trip to Europe. Prepared talking points and questions about human rights, security, and the economy for Congress members during Commission hearings and briefings.

Legal and Communications Intern, Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse                                                             June 2018 – August 2018

• Individually drafted the Fiscal Year 2018 Annual Report for online publication by interviewing employees and researching. Designed domestic violence awareness social media posts to increase JCADA’s online presence and provide information to domestic violence survivors.
